Sterilising Certificate Course

Available to financial members of the NZSSA only.
Join before enrolling with the Open Polytechnic.

In 2006 the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand commenced offering the Sterilisation Certificate course that was previously offered by the NZSSA.

The Sterilisation Certificate course in now completed over a one year period via correspondence.

It is a requirement for this course that all new staff will have commenced the Sterilisation Certificate course within two years of their employment within the CSSD setting.

The fees may also be found on the same web page. Students need to enrol in Module one to start with. Entry to module two is dependent on successful completion of Module one.

Remember each course has a written assessment that has to be completed and returned to the Open University for marking. The assessments are based upon the learning outcomes for each course and to gain credit for a course you are required to meet all of the competency requirements of the course assessment.

Enrolment details 2011/2012:

1 November 2011 - Enrolments open
9 December 2011 - Last day for enrolment in Module 1 and Module 2 (for those who have successfully completed Module 1)
16 January 2012 - Study begins

14 May 2012 - Enrolments for Module 2 and Module 1 (2nd intake) open
25 May 2012 - Last day for enrolment in Module 2 and Module 1 (second intake)
11 June 2012 - Study begins
28 September - 2012 Study ends

The dates for enrolment in the Certificate in Advanced Sterilising Technology, Level 5 are consistent with our trimesterised courses. The first course, 3309, Staff Leadership, will be available for the start of Trimester One 2012. The dates for that are:

Trimester 1, 2012
13 February - Enrolments close for Trimester 1
27 February - Trimester 1 officially begins

Trimester 2, 2012
29 June - Enrolments close for Trimester 2
9 July - Trimester 2 officially begins
